NFFPC Mobilizes Team to Alberta

On Saturday May 14, 2016 the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Compact, NFFPC, mobilized an Incident Management Team, IMT, to assist the Canadian Province of Alberta with managing their wildland fires. The structure of the NFFPC IMT is comprised of individuals from the Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, New Labrador and Parks Canada and from the States of New York and Maine.

In 2016 the Province of Alberta has experienced 432 fires that have burned 300,016.43 hectares or 741,357 acres. It is the first time in the history of the forest fire compacts that an IMT has been mobilized to Canada on an inter-compact exchange to help assist in suppression efforts.

The Incident Management Team was assigned to a fire yesterday in White Court, Alberta. The Alliance of Forest Fire Compacts would like to thank the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre and the NFFPC for their efforts in assisting the Province of Alberta during their time of need.
