05 Oct 2016 Annual AFFC Meeting

The 2016 Annual Alliance of Forest Fire Compacts (AFFC) meeting was held October 4-5 in Atlanta, GA at the Southern Area Coordination Center (SACC). All eight regional forest fire compacts were represented including a multitude of individual States and Provinces, and the National Association of State Foresters (NASF). Additionally, the AFFC was pleased to have the Canadian Interagency Fire Center (CIFC), the Eastern Area Coordination Center (EACC), SACC and ESRI in attendance. Topics ranged from best dispatch practices, inter-compact exchange legislation, compact request mechanisms to identified action items moving forward.

Other topics included AFFC representation in Canada during times of high fire occurrence, and avenues to streamline international resource exchanges.

It will be an exciting year for forest fire compacts moving forward as we look to continue our momentum.
