Texas State IMT2 Team Deploys to Oklahoma

A short team from Texas composed of 35 people was dispatched to the Anderson Creek Fire near Freedom, Oklahoma on March 23, 2016. According to the NICC Situation Report on April 1, 2016 the 367,630 acre Anderson Creek Fire burned a total of 53 structures, including 12 homes. The $1.3 million dollar fire started on March 22, 2016 in Oklahoma and crossed the state line, burning into Barber and Comanche counties in Kansas. The Texas State IMT2 team demobilized on March 29, 2016 with the fire 95% contained. The South Central continues to be one of the most active compacts this spring due to weather conditions across much of their member states.

There was some excellent drone footage of the fire taken by the Kiowa County Media Center.
