SCFFC Mobilizes Resources to Combat Oklahoma Wildland Fires

Due to the elevated wildfire activity in the State of Oklahoma, the South Central Forest Fire Compact was activated on February 19, 2016. On February 22nd, the Arkansas Forestry Commission supplied 4 dozers, and 2 Taskforce Leaders while the Tennessee Division of Forestry deployed 4 Type-6 Engines to assist in fire suppression and aid in severity activities. As of February 19th the Oklahoma Forestry Service’s Fire Situation Report listed over 40,000 acres burned on 4 on-going fires.  Fire Danger remained High to Very High across the entirety of the State for the weekend of the 20th, so additional fires and a spike in acres burned are expected to add to the total acreage and fire occurrence totals for this time period.
